About Jitka
Jitka, an accomplished artist and designer, gained recognition for her work in puppet character design. After studying at Higher Vocational School of Graphic Arts in Prague, she worked at Barrandov animation studio“ Bratri v Triku [Brothers in a T-shirt] . By signing “ Charta 77” she faced adversity under communist rule, eventually forced leaving Czechoslovakia in 1980. In New York City, she co-founded the Ta Fantastika black light theater, after that contributed for many years to Sesame street and Jim Henson productions, (Muppets) earning a daytime Emmy award nomination for best costume design. Jitka's talents extended to various TV shows, commercials, and HBO specials, including "Muppets Tonight." Later, she became an independent designer, crafting successful toys and puppets for renowned companies like Nickelodeon, Disney, Warner Bros, Mattel, and Fisher Price and Jim Henson Muppets. Additionally, Jitka created her own art educational toy line, " Art Plush -Modern Bits," showcased at the BUELL children's museum in Colorado USA
Embracing her artistic journey in later years, Jitka transitioned into a full-time artist, receiving commissions for paintings, sculptures and bas reliefs from clients worldwide. Her extraordinary talent garnered significant acclaim at her early career with the Sunday New York Times newspaper magazine drawing comparisons between Jitka’s avant-garde puppet character design and the legendary Pablo Picasso.

“I have always been a creative person, passionate about everything from art to cartoon, puppetry, character design , fashion, sculpture, and interior design. Art is so important to me because it gives me a sense of freedom that feels pure and uninhibited. I create expressions of real and imagined experiences, emotions and inspirations gathered from a lifetime of keen observations. My creative journey blends various skills from different domains and the joy of creation is my driving force. My artistic endeavors take many forms, bringing life to everything that I create.”
